Keepers of Oldzhikansiy (2026)

A young man, Yaroslav, joins a research team in the taiga, where he learns about the daily work of scientists. In the field, the specialists study forest ecosystems: collecting tree cores, examining soil profiles, collecting plant samples, and recording environmental parameters. Through conversations around the campfire, working in the forest, and observing wildlife, the meaning of this seemingly inconspicuous scientific work gradually unfolds. The expedition demonstrates how a multitude of measurements and observations informs an understanding of complex natural processes and the formation of scientific knowledge about the region. The film reveals the lives of people who have dedicated themselves to studying and preserving the unique natural landscapes of the Amur region, becoming true guardians of the protected taiga.
