In a terrifying future, youth from poor districts are forced to fight each other to the death. The heroic Katniss refuses to kill and becomes an icon of the resistance. 7. Bird Box (2018)

The world is under attack by aliens who force their victims to commit suicide and the only way to survive is to stay indoors. 4. E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982)

Without this film classic from master director Steven Spielberg, we wouldn’t have Stranger Things today. The boy Elliott finds a space creature and wants to help the alien return to his home planet, but before that happens, he must prevent the creature from being found by the government. What follows is a timeless adventure that looks just as wonderfully away today as it did almost forty years ago.

In District 9, a spaceship full of aliens is stranded in Cape Town. But not everyone welcomes the aliens with open arms… For his rock-solid debut, South African director Neil Blomkamp was inspired by the problems in his homeland, such as poverty and racism. Combining stark sci-fi and sharp social critique, District 9 is one of the quirkiest science fiction movies of this century!
